![]() Hornets 32 Hull K.R. 10 (H.T. 26-4) A win is a win, and we've got to be happy with a win over Hull K.R.? or have we? A fantastic run of wins has set Hornets a high standard which tonight(in my opinion) Hornets didn't attain. O.K. Hornets were never in any danger in this game but too many dropped passes and knock-ons from kicks will be my major worries from this game. There were probably more of these errors than in the past 5 games put together! do this against a good team and you will be punished. At times it was catch up rugby but we were well ahead! Maybe the players were trying a bit too hard for a big score? Hopefully that's the bad performance for the rest of the season and bring on Widnes. The press had this to say : Rochdale gained revenge for their defeat by Hull KR earlier in the season with a 32-10 victory at Spotland. Both teams were coming off the back of hard games at the weekend and it showed. The first 10 minutes were very scrappy with the sides exchanging tries from Hornets' Matt Calland and Rovers' Whetu Taewa. The home side finally came to life when leading try-scorer Marlon Billy intercepted a Paul Fletcher pass and broke through two tackles to reach the line. Hornets continued to press and it came as no surprise when Danny Sculthorpe's long pass sent James Bunyan clear to score. Two minutes later and a neat set move saw Latham Tawhai present Paul Owen with an easy scoring chance. Hornets finished off the half with the best passing move of the game as Brendan O'Meara found Marlon Billy, who cut inside and crashed over the line. The second half was eminently forgettable as a combination of good defence and poor handling prevented any continuity in the play. The Hornets then wrapped up their scoring with a late try from Sean Cooper to secure their seventh win in a row. | |||
