It's the Biffs
In a quite amazing case of deja-vu, Oldham have gone to a ground where
no-one can get a win and overcome the odds to line up a playoff game against
Hornets at Spotland.
Their 11-19 win at Dull KR ensures that - as the lowest placed survivor from the
first round - we all get another bedwetting nailbiter to look forward to
as the Pikeys aim to scupper our season again and avoid what would be a
humiliating five-nil whitewash.
While purists would say that it's the league programme that determines
superiority and the playoffs are in effect a separate competition to determine
promotion, any game against Oldham brings a whole pantechnicon of historical
baggage in one of keenest - and one of the most parochial - of spotting
rivalries.
Gird up your loins ladies and gentlemen - it's going to be a big week
- followed by an even bigger weekend.
