Games against Chorley this season will have the added interest of the Lynx's new coach, ex-Hornet Darren Abram! After a playing career of fifteen years he went on to coach a Leigh academy side to three consecutive grand finals, Darren has worked alongside some of the best names in rugby such as Ian Millward, Andy Goodway and Alan Agar to mention just a few, the experiences and ideas collected during that time, coupled with his own ideas we feel will make Darren a coach of very high standards.
Darren has also been included in the R.F.L list of elite excel coaches and we feel this is further testiment to the type of coach he is, we feel this will benefit our club in the future.
Dennis Ramsdale, Chorley sporting club manager said of the appointment”We had an excellent response to the vacancy and the interview panel felt that all candidates were capable, However Darren came out on top in everyones mind, his playing and coaching history showed us that he is the man to take us forward to the next level and possibly beyond”Further to this Henry Morris the Chairman of the Lynx added”Darren, I feel is a major catch for us he is one of a new breed of young coaches who will bring fresh ideas and a vibrancy to our squad, We can all now look forward to the new season with much optisism in the knowledge that we have secured the services of a top quality head coach in Darren”
