I would just like to thank Jim Stringer for organising the excellent new Hornets' fundraising initiative. The turnout was good, and after a frank discussion I feel that a lot people were happier than before the meeting.
The directors answered the fans' questions as best as they could, it was obvious that they were doing all they could to put a team out next season but the old enemy, money, was going to be a deciding factor.
Can I, through your pages, appeal to ALL Hornets sup-porters, past and present, to come along to the next meet-ing.
Every penny counts, and the more money we get behind us the more options the board and coaching staff will have. All the funds raised by this association will be disposed of in a democratic way, not just handed over to fall into some bottomless pit.
The money will be used to provide money for players and development. This sort of fund raising has been successful at other clubs like Leigh, Swinton and Hunslet and it could be a success here if we all give our best efforts and a little bit of cash. Many people say, "If you ignore things they won't go away". As far as Hornets are concerned I can assure every-one if you do ignore the club it WILL go away, then we will all be the poorer. Let's miss it before it's gone, not after.
