Sunday's Coming
Sunday sees Andy Fisher's Dewsbury side at Spotland - and, where once they seemed stone cold certs for the drop, there's a chink of light courtesy of a huge shock win at Doncaster last week.
Reports suggest that livewire out half Jamie Benn was the architect of the victory, kicking seven goals from eight and directing play with his astute field kicking. Seems too that - in Nathan Batty - they have a fullback who likes to get into the line: he bagged a brace at Donny from good backing up.
Andy fisher's built a side big on experience and graft - and their lowly position contradicts a look down the team sheet.
Benn is joined at half back by the evergreen David Mycoe, whilst French international centre Sylvain Houles gives them a dash of Gallic fair.
Up front, Frank Watene leads a pack that will keep coming all afternoon and, with nimble Jim Elston in the mix too the Rams have plenty to keep an eye on.
Hally's only enforced change comes following the unfortunate injury to John Hamilton at Whitehaven last week. John fell awkwardly in an inoccuous tackle and suffered a severely broken leg that required an operation at West Cumbria Hospital earlier in the week. Needless to say, his season's over and we look forward to seeing him next year.
Elsewhere is should be much the same. Wes Rogers' try-scoring return caught the attention last week, so could get him the nod over Stevo. We have no news over the availability of James Bunyan, who was replaced at centre last week by Bally - but his return would see Damian back at 13 and Smiffy back in the second row alongside the inspirational Dave Larder.
With teams winding up for the run-in, every game is vital - especially if we are to maintain the heat on Salford and Leigh in the event of a slip up. More importantly, following the quality of play that Hornets have produced this last couple of weeks, I'd implore every one who considers themselves to be a Hornets fan to get to the next two home games and show their support for what is, arguably, the best footballing side I've seen in 32 years.
The gates we draw are a travesty - we should be cramming them in to watch Rugby League of this quality, but we're not. So I ask everone who has this club at heart to get to Spotland on Sunday and cheer the lads to victory.
Dewsbury are scrapping for their life in this division. Hornets are on the crest of an amazing wave. It has all the ingredients of a great game. You'd be mad to miss it.
