The Hornets Nest Egg had a bit of disappointing news yesterday morning.Supporters' Direct (thre Trusts' governing body) phoned to say that they can't fund the registration fees of Rugby League clubs any more because their main grant funding now comes from the football authorities - which leaves us having to find somewhere in the region of £700.
I'm expecting a call from them today to take matters further. I'm going to plead poverty with SD and try and cut a deal (well, you never know). Failing
that we'll have to have a lot of raffles and wait 6 months. I'm also hoping to take a view on setting out a timetable of actions that will see us become
a trust.
One solution could be that, when the Nest Egg takes the plunge into becoming a fully fledged Supporters' Trust early next year, we'll be seeking
corporate members or sponsors to help fund our registration as an Industral and Provident Society (a requiremen of trust registration). Any business
getting involved will feature on the website, will have their logo on Nest Egg literature/stationery and will be credited in all communications.
Anyone interested can call me on 07876 011 084 or email me at stringer_jim@hotmail.com
Whatever happens, the Nest Egg will press on with this next exciting phase in its development - providing Hornets supporters with an even stronger
unified voice and a role to play in the future of our club.
Onward Hornets Onward
