Mark Nixon
One of my favourite ex-players has been in touch, Mark has this to say....
Being a very keen rugby league fan and former Hornets
player I was a little concerned to see my name not
listed in the alphabetical order of former players so
here are my details. I played in 1989/90 season as a
raw 21 year old when we won promotion to the first
division and played the following season 1990/91. The
experience and friends I made will never be forgotten.
I also toured the UK with the 1993 Kiwis and captained
them in 2 games. I was also fortunate enough to be an
import at Featherstone Rovers in 1994/95 season where
we made the challenge cup semi against Leeds. For
Rochdale I played Centre , Standoff , Scrum half and
even loose forward in the great win over Castleford at
Weldon road in the Regal Trophy competition. I finished
playing rugby league in 1997 due to a head injury.
Since then I have coached at national age group level
with success. Currently I am involved with the
Christchurch High School Old boys rugby union club as
head trainer where I am responsible for the fitness
and conditioning of all grades from 16's through to
the first team this is my third season and the club
has had a full trophy cabinet since. I am also
involved with the Canterbury Bulls rugby league, who
have three sides that play in the national competition
16's 18's and the first team who play a full season. I
am conditioner for the 18's who only have 5 games
which they play preseason, so the New Zealand
Warriors coaching staff can have a real good look at
the latest talent available. My goal is to one day be
part of the Rochdale Hornets Coaching staff as I feel
I have a lot to offer and I am still passionate about
the club. So spread the word. So go the Hornets
in 2004 and say Hello to that Mark Reynolds the best
kit man around cheers . Mark Nixon
