Final hooter for Oldham?
Club prepares for last-ditch battle for survival in court
With an Inland Revenue winding-up petition scheduled for a London court on Wednesday, Oldham Roughyeds' face their biggest battle of the season as proposals for payment of their £180,000 tax debts have been rejected.
Despite Oldham's meetings last week with their Bury-based financial advisers and on-going conversations with the tax man, the Inland Revenue is going ahead with its winding up order tomorrow.
In an attempt to gain an eleventh hour reprieve, the stricken club has submitted adjustments to the original proposals. Even if these final proposals are rejected, the club plans to go and fight the case in court tomorrow.
The Roughyeds Chairman Christopher Hamilton said "The situation is grave."
