Jim updates us on the financesAs the Nest Egg is currently undergoing a change of signatory on the bank account due to Clive Heyward's emigration to Sydney and his replacement by Rachel Jones, I've been spending a bit of time addressing financial matters and talking to the bank.
So this provides a good opportunity to update everyone on the Supporters' Association's financial situation.
As many of you know, last month, the Nest Egg invested another £1,600 into Rochdale Hornets. In doing so, those present voted unanimously to take the
bank account below our statutory minimum of £1,000.
One month on, I'm delighted to report that - as of this morning - our account stands at £1,307.
This is due to our regular monthly standing order contributors, some generous donations over the last month and the £500 raised so far by the balloon race.
As we approach the end of another season, the Nest Egg has again made a real difference. In the last year (October '05 to September '06) we have
contributed £8,700 to the cause, taking our total contribution to the club so far to over £21,000.
Please note, this amount is the figure that has passed through the Nest Egg account and does not include the direct cash donations that people regularly make; the most sizeable recent cash donation being the £800 raised at our August meeting with the board.
Again, the Nest Egg would like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who's contributed. Every penny we raise goes into helping our club - and every penny really does help.
See you all Sunday.
Onward Hornets Onward - and Onward Together!
Further details
It's a bit of a good news/bad news financial report this morning.
The very good news is that I've just banked the latest instalment of the Balloon Race money. Today's banked amount was £370. Which takes the total
raised by the Balloon Race so far to £920.
Once costs and the finder's prize have been deducted - and thanks to the Rochdale Observer's generous donation of the £100 prize money - we will
clear a profit of at least £620.
We still have a few sheets to come in, so if you haven't yet handed in your Balloon Race sheets and money, can you please email via jim@rochdalehornets.com and I'll arrange to pick it up from you.
The less good news is that there has been a banking error on our account. As noted in the recent financial report, we wrote a cheque to Rochdale Hornets for £1,600 on the 1st August. However, the banks involved wrongly debited our account for just £1,000.
Hence, last month's balance of £1,307.18 included £600 that shouldn't have been there.
In order to cover the subsequent shortfall in our actual payment to the club, we will be writing another cheque for £600 this week. As the members
have already voted to release £1,600 - and £1,000 has already been removed from our account - I hope that the members will agree to our doing this.
Thanks again for your support.
Jim
