The Rochdale Observer today quotes a club spokesman confirming that Goulding has been in touch with the club.

"Bobbie has approached us and at a time when the board is feeling a little low it was a terrific call to take. It shows the high regard Bobbie still has for the club and I know he would be a very popular choice with supporters. However, what we have to do now is consider all the applications we receive. We do not want to rush into a decision"
