One of the rising stars of Rochdale Hornets Andrew Marsh has been picked to play for England in the Student Rugby League World Cup. 20 year old Andrew has already represented his country when he played for England Students last year and was part of the team that won the European Championship. He was selected for the European Dream Team which although not a competitive side meant that he was part of an elite based on his performances throughout the tournament and awarded with an official shirt. Andrew also played for Great Britain Students last year competing against Australia in a three match test series.

He flies out to Brisbane for the competition on the 30th June 2008 joining other young players from countries including Australia, New Zealand, France and Greece.

Andrew is very proud to have been selected to play but is struggling to raise funds to cover his costs. He says “I need to find sponsorship as the costs of taking part are very high. I need to raise £1000 to help cover kit, flights and accommodation. I am willing to do my bit for anyone who would like to help me, I’m happy to get shirts and balls etc. for sponsors. I know that other players are also looking for funding but any amount would help me.”

Andrew is currently at Edge Hill University studying teaching, coaching, education and participation development.
