Directions

By Car (from all directions) : Exit M62 at junction 20. At roundabout turn left onto the A627. At next roundabout, turn left into Edinburgh Way. Straight across next Junction Roch Valley Way, passing the Clog and Shawl pub on the left. After about a mile, at crossroads with the Cemetery pub diagonally on the right, go straight on into Sandy Lane. Ground is on the right hand side after half a mile.

By Train: It’s a fair walk from Rochdale Station, so we’d recommend a taxi from the rank outside the station. Cost? About a fiver.

If you fancy the walk, this is the shortest route (according to the AA Route Planner) and should take about half an hour.

With the station behind you, go straight ahead across the roundabout onto Maclure Road. After 300 yards, you’ll reach a T-junction with Halfords on your right. Turn left into Drake Street. After half a mile, turn right at the traffic lights onto the A58 dual carriageway and head towards the town centre. After half a mile, you’ll come to a major traffic junction with two ‘spire’ sculptures. Cross the road in the direction of Asda – this is Dane Street, Follow Dane Street round past Asda until you reach a set of traffic lights (Bury Road on your left). Follow the road straight on – this is Mellor Street – for half a mile until you reach a mini-roundabout. Just after the mini-roundabout, the road forks. Take the left turn onto Edenfield Road. After 100 yards. turn left onto Willbutts Lane and go up the hill. The ground is 150 yards on your left.

By Bus: Take the Norden bus from Rochdale Bus Station and ask the driver for ‘Sandy Lane’. Better still, get a taxi, the bus service on a Sunday is rubbish.

If you fancy the walk, leave the bus station by the main entrance and turn right onto the Esplanade. Cross Drake Street via the zebra crossing and continue straight on – past the town hall until you reach the junction with the with two ‘spire’ sculptures. Then follow same the route as the walk from the railway station.

The walk should take about 20 minutes.
