Everyone said we would win, the question of the week said we would, the predictions panel said we would, the messageboard chaps said we would and so it was. The lads didn't let us down, Oldham 10 Hornets 38. The resurgent Hornets underlined their play-off potential with a fantastic 38-10 win over neighbours Oldham at Boundary Park. Most of the Oldham fans had left the ground before Oldham scored their only try of the match five minutes from time when Phil Farrell crossed in the corner. And who could blame them as Hornets ran in six tries as they stormed to their seventh win in their last eight outings. Loose forward Dave Watson, who helped himself to the first two tries, ran the Roughyeds' defence ragged until he retired midway through the second half with a head wound. James Bunyan, Sean Cooper, Matt Calland and Paul Owen also crossed Oldham's line as the home side were torn apart. A crowd of 2398 watched this one.
